Join us at our next Los Angeles People’s Movement Assembly. We will have a hybrid meeting, in person and by Zoom, on Saturday, December 9th 2023 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The in person location is Bernie’s Coffee Shop on Museum Row.
Invited speaker Daisy Lomeli, Mayor of Cudahy will join us to share lessons learned from passing the city’s ceasefire resolution on November 7th.
We are creating collective governance, infrastructure, and action plans for our social movements in Los Angeles and beyond. We will deliberate on proposals for:
- Membership in the Los Angeles Peoples Movement Assembly based on shared values, principles, and points of unity
- Leadership based on bottom-up processes and horizontalism where power is delegated to leaders to carry out the consensus, and where authority cannot cause harm
- Decision making premised on direct democracy and sociocracy
An infrastructure working group is preparing a proposal on these three topics, based on our collective study of models from the CNT, Zapatistas, Barcelona en Comu and Podemos, and Jackson Peoples Assembly. Contact us if you are interested in drafting these proposals.
